On Remembrance Day, pupils from Year 3 and Year 5 at Gillibrand showed their respect by visiting the cenotaph in Astley Park. They took part in a quiet moment of reflection, laying poppies and thinking about the brave men and women who have served our country. Back at school, children in Key Stage 1 held a special assembly where they learned about why poppies are worn as a symbol of remembrance and peace. The whole school observed a minute silence at 11am, showing respect and gratitude for all those who have given so much for others. It was a thoughtful and meaningful day for everyone at Gillibrand Primary.
